Every note tells a story.

Meet Ruben

With a saxophone in hand and a story woven in every note, Ruben Ross is one of London's most captivating jazz performers. He’s spent over 14 years mastering his craft, blending the roots of jazz tradition with the freshness of modern improvisation.

Born and raised in Hackney, Ruben’s early exposure to music came through the community-driven Hackney Music Service. That foundation, paired with mentorship at the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy and rigorous training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, has shaped him into the artist he is today: creative and committed to delivering unforgettable live experiences.

In addition to his extensive performance and teaching background, Ruben has also performed with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, bringing his vibrant sound to stages across the UK. His approach to jazz is both deeply rooted and endlessly curious—constantly exploring new ideas while staying grounded in the traditions that first inspired him.

Whether he’s performing at iconic venues like Ronnie Scott’s or guiding young musicians at World Heartbeat Music Academy and Haringey Music Services, Ruben brings sincerity, depth, and undeniable presence to everything he does. He isn’t just playing jazz — he’s living it.

Ruben’s approach

“I believe jazz is a conversation between the past and the present—a balance of tradition and innovation. My goal is to bring that dialogue to every performance.”
